CHAGHI: In a high-level meeting of the Joint Border Trade Committee held in Zahedan, Sistan Balochistan, significant strides were made to enhance bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran. The Pakistani delegation, led by Customs Collector Gwadar Irfan Javed, and the Iranian delegation, headed by Director General of Iran Industry Ministry and Trade Organization Iraj Hasanpour, engaged in fruitful discussions on various trade and transport issues.
Key attendees from Pakistan included Deputy Commissioner Chaghi Dr. Atiqur Rehman Shahwani, Assistant Haji Yaqub Yasin Murtaza, Collector Taftan, Secretary Industry Noor Ahmad Perkani, Assistant Commissioner Washik, Customs officials, and Railway officials.
The meeting addressed crucial topics such as bilateral trade, transport, fisheries, and minerals. One of the notable outcomes was the decision to hold an exhibition showcasing Pakistan’s production exports to Iran. Additionally, the Pakistani delegation made a request for improved infrastructure at the Mashkeel crossing point, specifically gas, electricity, internet, and telephone services. The Iranian leadership committed to visiting the site and compiling a report within a month, while also agreeing to restore the corridor system.
This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening the economic ties between the two neighboring countries, promising enhanced cooperation and mutual growth.
