Mobile phone services to remain suspended in Muharram

Syed Muhammad Qaseem:

QUETTA: Mobile services were suspended on the eve of the 7th Muharram ul Haram in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan to maintain public order. This step was taken by the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department. The cellular service is set to remain suspended across Balochistan on the 10th Muharram ul Haram as well.

An official from the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department stated that this measure aims to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incidents during the significant period of Muharram. However, the suspension has caused inconvenience to consumers, who have reported suffering due to the lack of internet connectivity.

The decision to suspend mobile services during Muharram is a precautionary step taken annually to maintain peace and order during the religious observances. While it is necessary for security reasons, the impact on daily life, especially in terms of communication and internet access, has been significant.

Local residents have expressed their frustration over the service disruption, highlighting the reliance on mobile and internet services for various essential activities. Despite the inconvenience, authorities emphasize the importance of these measures in ensuring the safety and security of the community during Muharram.
