The Balochistan government has announced that mobile phone and internet services will be suspended in Quetta today and on the 10th of Muharram. This decision aims to ensure security during the religious observance.

According to the Interior Department, the blackout will last from 6 am to midnight on both the 7th and 10th of Muharram. Over 18,000 security personnel will be deployed in Quetta on Ashura Day, with five platoons of the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) from the Pakistan Army on standby.

Additionally, two helicopters will provide aerial surveillance on the 7th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram. In another security measure, a ban on the double riding of motorcycles has been imposed under Section 144 in seven districts of the province from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram.

These comprehensive arrangements by the Interior Department are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the public during Muharram Al Haram in Balochistan, including Quetta.
