QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has declared a high alert in 17 districts of Balochistan as the region braces for the monsoon season. The administration has been placed on red alert to manage potential emergencies effectively.

Key Details:

  • High Alert Districts: PDMA Balochistan has identified 17 districts at high risk during the monsoon season.
  • Relief Measures: Jahanzeb Khan, Director General of PDMA Balochistan, confirmed that relief materials have been dispatched to all affected districts. An emergency plan has been meticulously prepared, and all relevant departments have been briefed on their responsibilities.
  • Safe Locations: Deputy Commissioners in the high alert districts have been instructed to compile a list of safe places for evacuation if necessary.
  • Flood-Prone Areas: Naseerabad division faces threats from Harnai’s floodwaters, while Zhob and Sherani are at risk of flash floods.
  • NGO Involvement: Local NGOs have been notified to remain on standby to assist in emergency situations during the monsoon rains.
