QUETTA: Mr. Mark Bristow, President and CEO of Barrick Gold Corporation, met with Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to discuss strategic mining investments and ongoing welfare projects in the province.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti highlighted the provincial government’s proactive measures to attract and secure foreign investments, emphasizing a comprehensive security plan specifically designed for such projects. “We have established a dedicated Levies force to safeguard these initiatives, ensuring a stable environment conducive to economic growth,” Bugti stated.

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of Barrick Gold’s social responsibility efforts, urging the company to enhance and publicize their public welfare projects. He noted that these initiatives are essential for improving the living standards of local communities, aligning with the broader goal of regional development.

In response, Mr. Bristow expressed appreciation for the provincial government’s support and reiterated Barrick Gold’s commitment to working alongside local authorities. He affirmed that the collaboration between Barrick Gold and the Balochistan government is pivotal for maintaining ongoing development efforts and ensuring the welfare of the people.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to strengthen cooperation, focusing on sustainable investment and comprehensive development projects aimed at uplifting Balochistan’s socio-economic landscape.
