QUETTA: Information Secretary Balochistan, Imran Khan, underscored the critical role of responsible journalism in reflecting the ethos of society. During his visit to the Media Academy, he stated that media freedom hinges on impartiality, unbiased reporting, and responsible behavior. He emphasized that aligning mass media with modern requirements is a top priority for the government and pledged to address the challenges faced by journalists in the province.

Accompanied by Director General Public Relations Balochistan, Muhammad Noor Khetran, Imran Khan was welcomed by Quetta Press Club President Abdul Khaliq Rind and other cabinet officials. Abdul Khaliq Rand provided a comprehensive briefing on the Quetta Press Club, the Media Academy, its classes, and various other fields. He also detailed the activities and future plans of the Media Academy.

Imran Khan attentively listened to the concerns of Quetta Press Club members and individuals associated with the newspaper industry. He requested that Quetta Press Club officials prepare detailed proposals to be presented to the government. He assured them of his commitment to discussing these issues with the Chief Minister of Balochistan to find effective solutions.

The Information Secretary highlighted the importance of the Journalists’ Welfare Fund, stating it would be used to support martyred and injured journalists in the line of duty. Additionally, he mentioned plans to request special facilities for the Media Academy from the Chief Minister, aiming to enhance the training and professional skills of journalism students.

This visit marks a significant step towards improving the conditions for journalists in Balochistan, with a focus on fostering a responsible and modern media landscape.
