By News Desk: The Balochistan government employees strike is set to intensify as the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) announced an indefinite province-wide shutdown from June 18, warning that government offices, educational institutions, and public departments across the province will remain closed until their demands are met.
The announcement came during a press conference in Quetta, where AGEGA leaders Abdul Qadoos Kakar and Younas Kakar condemned the alleged use of force against government workers during recent protests and demanded the immediate release of arrested employees.
Under the protest plan, the Balochistan strike will affect government offices, schools, colleges, and other public institutions throughout the province. The alliance said employees would suspend their duties indefinitely as part of their protest campaign.
In addition to the shutdown, the alliance announced that daily demonstrations, rallies, and protest gatherings will be held across different districts of Balochistan to mobilize support for their movement.
The leadership also declared that a Quetta sit-in and hunger strike will begin on June 19, describing it as a “sit-in until death” if authorities fail to address their grievances.
Speaking at the press conference, the Grand Alliance stated that the protest movement would continue and expand across Balochistan until all detained employees are released, those responsible for the alleged violence are held accountable, and the demands of government workers are accepted.
The announcement has raised concerns about the disruption of public services, as the Balochistan government employees strike is expected to affect administrative work, educational activities, and essential government operations across the province.
With tensions mounting, all eyes are now on possible negotiations between the provincial government and employee representatives to avert a prolonged indefinite strike in Balochistan.
