CHAMAN: A cholera outbreak has struck Chaman, with a large number of residents affected by the illness. The situation is dire, as public hospitals and primary health centers face a severe shortage of medicines. The lack of space in civil hospital wards has forced medical staff to treat patients outside the hospital, where drips are being administered.

Dr. Ismat Achakzai, the District Health Officer (DHO) of Chaman, announced that an emergency has been declared across all private and government hospitals in the district. He urged the public to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Despite the critical situation, the Chaman health department’s request for additional medicines from Quetta has yet to be fulfilled. Local authorities have appealed for immediate medical assistance to address the growing number of cholera cases.

Currently, no deaths have been reported, but health department officials warn that hundreds of people remain affected, with the majority seeking treatment at Civil Hospital Chaman. The community is anxiously awaiting the arrival of necessary medical supplies to combat the outbreak.
