Syed Ali Shah:
QUETTA: The Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has called for the resolution of the missing persons issue in accordance with the country’s constitution. Speaking at a news conference held at the Quetta Press Club on Tuesday evening, Hafiz Naeem emphasized the need for a lawful approach, stating, “If someone has committed any crime, they should be produced before the court of law.” He was accompanied by Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman, a JI Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Gwadar, along with other party leaders.
During the conference, Hafiz Naeem also hinted at launching an anti-government campaign in response to the increasing inflation and price hikes that have severely impacted the country. He criticized the ruling elite, stating that “poor people are the worst sufferers of inflation while the elite class enjoys life at the expense of the common man.”
Anti-Government Campaign
The JI Chief announced that a nationwide movement would be initiated at the end of August to pressure the government into addressing the skyrocketing utility bills and inflation that have disproportionately affected the masses. He questioned the governance of the country, asking, “Who has ruled this country since its independence? The elites have always been the rulers, while the common man has only suffered.”
Focus on Balochistan
Hafiz Naeem urged the government to revisit its policies, particularly in Balochistan, and to ensure that the people are granted their constitutional and fundamental rights. He stressed the need for good governance and pro-people policies that would benefit the poor and marginalized communities.
Membership Drive
In addition to the upcoming campaign, Hafiz Naeem announced that Jamaat-e-Islami would launch a nationwide membership campaign starting in September. The party aims to strengthen its grassroots support and mobilize citizens to demand their rights.
The press conference concluded with Hafiz Naeem reaffirming JI’s commitment to advocating for the rights of the poor and holding the government accountable for its actions.
