QUETTA: The Information Department of Balochistan is set to become the first government department in the province to embrace a fully paperless working system.
An important review meeting, organized by the Directorate of Public Relations Balochistan and chaired by Information Secretary Imran Khan, was held to discuss the integration of this modern technology. The meeting was attended by Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Muhammad Noor Khetran and other key officials.
The purpose of the meeting was to thoroughly examine the capabilities of Google Workspace and formulate a strategy to implement paperless operations within the department. Addressing the meeting, Secretary Information Imran Khan emphasized the department’s pioneering role in adopting this technology, highlighting that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed with Google Tech Valley to facilitate this transition.
“Through Google Workspace, the Information Department Balochistan is taking a significant step towards modernizing its operations. This initiative will not only reduce reliance on traditional paper-based methods but also promote efficiency and streamline our day-to-day activities,” said Secretary Imran Khan.
During the meeting, it was revealed that 30 Google accounts have already been created for departmental use, offering business account services, video conferencing, live chat, and other features that will enhance communication and collaboration. The use of Google Drive will also ensure that documents are securely stored and easily accessible.
The new system will enable the integration of various departmental functions, allowing officers across different districts to be connected with the DGPR through this digital platform. This is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the department and foster effective communication among all personnel.
