Islamabad: The National Assembly’s health panel has called for a re-conduct of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) following allegations of irregularities in both the Sindh and Islamabad exams.
The Sindh MDCAT, conducted by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), faced accusations of paper leaks on social media. Meanwhile, students and parents from Islamabad criticized Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) for including out-of-syllabus questions in its MDCAT.
In response to these allegations, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has halted SZABMU from releasing its merit list and appointed a committee to investigate claims of 30 incorrect questions. Similarly, a high-level committee is already investigating the alleged paper leaks in the Sindh MDCAT.
Affected medical aspirants are hopeful for justice from both the Sindh and Islamabad High Courts. However, the Intelligence Bureau’s initial report on the DUHS MDCAT has not found any evidence of paper leaks.
If the investigation committees determine irregularities in either the DUHS or SZABMU MDCATs, affected students may be compensated according to the law. Both courts will continue to hear these cases in upcoming sessions.
