Tesla CEO Elon Musk played a significant role in supporting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, investing approximately $120 million into Trump’s re-election efforts, according to media reports. Trump acknowledged Musk’s support while addressing his supporters in Florida on Wednesday, as major networks projected his victory in the US presidential race.
In his speech, Trump, 78, praised Musk, calling him “an amazing guy” and noting their shared campaigning efforts across Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. The crowd cheered as Trump referred to Musk as “a star,” expressing his admiration for the billionaire’s achievements.
Musk, 53, owner of SpaceX and the social media platform X, used his influence to boost Trump’s campaign. Following Trump’s victory, Musk shared celebratory posts on his platform.
Trump also highlighted SpaceX’s recent success in capturing its Super Heavy booster rocket mid-air after a Starship test flight, likening the achievement to “a beautiful baby.” He humorously recounted calling Musk afterward, with Musk quipping that “only Elon” could accomplish such a feat.
Throughout his campaign, Trump made varied statements about Musk’s potential role in his administration, at one point suggesting that Musk could be appointed “secretary of cost-cutting.”
