Syed Muhammad Qaseem:
Quetta – In response to security concerns, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rescheduled the by-election dates for two Balochistan constituencies, PB-8 Sabi and PB-44 Quetta. Originally set for November 14, polling for the Balochistan Assembly seat in PB-8 Sabi will now take place on November 17, 2024. Meanwhile, voting at 16 polling stations in Quetta’s PB-44 constituency has been moved from November 21 to December 12, 2024.
The decision to adjust the polling dates follows a formal request by the Balochistan government, citing prevailing law and order challenges across the province. In an official announcement, the Election Commission confirmed that the new dates aim to ensure a safer voting environment for constituents.
This development reflects growing concerns over security in Balochistan, with local authorities emphasizing the importance of conducting elections in stable conditions. Both constituencies are preparing to implement heightened security measures as the rescheduled dates approach.
