QUETTA: In a groundbreaking moment for Balochistan’s legal community, Barrister Raja Jawad Advocate has announced his candidacy in the prestigious Lincoln’s Inn international election for the Bar Representation Committee (BRC).
This election, which determines representation for one of the oldest and most esteemed Inns of Court in the UK, offers a significant opportunity for the province to have its voice heard on a global stage.
Barrister Raja Jawad, a distinguished lawyer from Balochistan, is the first from his province to compete in the international BRC elections.
With over a decade of legal practice, he has handled several high-profile cases, including the Reko Diq NAB references, the disqualification case of former Chief Minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal, and a case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
His track record also includes representing numerous parliamentarians from Balochistan, underscoring his influence within the province’s legal and political circles.
Barrister Jawad’s campaign focuses on bridging the gap between Balochistan and the UK by promoting greater opportunities for Baloch youth in Bar-at-Law programs, specifically at Lincoln’s Inn.
Notably, Lincoln’s Inn is where Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was called to the Bar, adding historical significance to Barrister Jawad’s candidacy.
If elected, Barrister Jawad aims to advocate for the province at an international level, highlighting the unique challenges and aspirations of Balochistan’s legal professionals. “My vision is to secure more seats for Balochistan’s youth at Lincoln’s Inn, fostering opportunities for legal training and advocacy,” stated Barrister Jawad. He emphasized that his win would not only bring international attention to Balochistan’s legal potential but also serve as a platform to raise the province’s voice on pressing issues.
The Lincoln’s Inn Bar Representation Committee election is a vital event, offering members worldwide a chance to influence policies and initiatives within one of the UK’s most prestigious legal institutions.
