ECP Disqualifies Adil Khan Bazai, Declares NA-262 Vacant

News Desk:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified Adil Khan Bazai and declared the NA-262 seat vacant. The decision follows a reference filed under Article 63A of the Constitution, citing Bazai’s violation of party directives.

Adil Bazai, elected as an independent candidate, later joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). However, during the budget session, he went against the party’s instructions, prompting PML-N President Nawaz Sharif to file the disqualification reference with the National Assembly Speaker.

The ECP’s ruling reinforces Article 63A, which mandates party loyalty from members elected on its platform. With Bazai’s disqualification, the NA-262 constituency will now await a by-election to fill the vacant seat.

This marks a significant moment in the ongoing political accountability process, emphasizing the importance of adherence to party policies.
