QUETTA: The second phase of the Green and Blue Quetta Initiative was launched on Friday at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS). The project, aimed at enhancing Quetta’s green cover, will see the plantation of 5,000 trees in the provincial capital.

Naseem Rahman Malakhail, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Environment, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Addressing the event, Malakhail emphasized the importance of collective efforts in combating environmental challenges.

Other prominent speakers included Zainab Gohar, Sharjeel Baloch, Niaz Khan Kakkar, Jehangir Bazai who highlighted the need for sustainable urban forestry and community involvement in environmental conservation.

The initiative’s first phase successfully planted 10,000 trees across Quetta, setting a strong foundation for the ongoing campaign. This project aligns with global efforts to address climate change by improving air quality, reducing urban heat, and increasing green spaces.

The Green and Blue Quetta Initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to making Quetta environmentally sustainable. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in ensuring the success of this vital project.
