Harnai: A tragic coal mine accident in Khost claimed the life of Khairullah, son of Khaliq, aged 30, and a resident of Mardan. The incident occurred while he was working deep inside the coal mine. His body has been recovered and shifted to Shahrig Hospital for legal formalities.

This unfortunate incident sheds light on the perilous working conditions faced by coal miners in Balochistan, where accidents due to unsafe practices are alarmingly common. Despite the high-risk nature of the job, mine safety measures remain inadequate, leading to frequent fatalities.

Adding to the miners’ plight, the region has seen an alarming rise in kidnappings and killings of mine workers, exacerbating their vulnerabilities. The lack of effective law enforcement and proper safety regulations has left these laborers exposed to both occupational and security threats.

The government and relevant authorities must urgently address these issues by enforcing strict safety standards in coal mines and improving security for workers in the region. Lives are at stake, and immediate action is necessary to prevent further tragedies.
