Syed Ali Shah:

Quetta – At least one person sustained serious burn injuries in a gas blast on the Arif Road Quetta on Tuesday morning, as unannounced gas load shedding and leakage incidents continue to endanger lives in the provincial capital.

Police sources reported that a massive gas explosion completely destroyed the house, leaving the victim critically injured. The injured was rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta, where doctors confirmed severe burn injuries.

The start of the winter season has seen a sharp rise in gas leakage explosions across the city.

Citizens blame the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) for its failure to notify the public about unannounced gas load shedding.

Residents have been left helpless as gas pressure drops unexpectedly, forcing them to leave gas heaters and stoves on.

When gas suddenly returns, even minor actions like switching on a bulb or opening a door have resulted in catastrophic gas explosions.

A local resident expressed anger, stating, “The SSGC’s failure to warn people has put our lives at risk. No one knows when the gas will disappear or return.”

Efforts to contact SSGC officials for clarification were unsuccessful, as officials claimed media dealings are handled at their Karachi head office, further complicating the situation.

Citizens have demanded immediate action, holding the company responsible for the increasing incidents of gas blasts in Quetta.

The lack of accountability and communication has sparked growing frustration, as families continue to suffer amid the worsening crisis.

Calls for urgent measures to address gas supply issues and ensure public safety are now louder than ever, as residents brace for more incidents in the cold winter months.
