Syed Muhammad Qaseem:

The Government of Balochistan has taken a historic step to uplift agriculture and support small farmers by introducing the Benazir Kisan Card. Approved by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on the recommendation of the Agriculture Department, this initiative is part of the provincial government’s commitment to agricultural development, said Provincial Government Spokesman Shahid Rind.

Under the first phase, the Kisan Card will provide subsidies to small-scale farmers, funded entirely by the provincial government. For enhanced efficiency, the Information Technology Department will establish a cloud system to manage the Kisan Card program for the next two years. The second phase will involve financial assistance from the federal government, the spokesperson added.

The program aligns with the Kisan Dost Vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, aimed at empowering farmers. According to the spokesperson, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, has instructed the formulation of a comprehensive strategy to ensure the welfare of farmers in both Sindh and Balochistan.

This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to boosting agricultural productivity and improving the livelihoods of farmers in Balochistan. The rollout of the Kisan Card marks a significant milestone in achieving these goals.
