Hanif Tareen:

Khost Harnai: In yet another mining disaster in Balochistan, two miners remain trapped in a coal mine in Khost Harnai after a collapse on Sunday morning.

This incident comes just days after the Sanjidi tragedy, where 12 miners were trapped, 11 of whom have been confirmed dead.

Local residents managed to rescue four miners from the Khost Harnai mine, but rescue teams are still working to retrieve the remaining two.

The Sanjidi mine disaster, which left families in shock, has barely subsided, highlighting the persistent dangers faced by miners in the province.

Balochistan’s mining sector, notorious for its hazardous working conditions and lack of oversight, continues to claim lives.

Critics are condemning the government’s failure to enforce safety regulations, as no officials have visited either site. The recurring tragedies underscore the urgent need for reforms to protect the lives of vulnerable coal miners.
