Quetta: The Balochistan government has accelerated its digital governance reforms, with 28 provincial departments processing more than 183,000 electronic files, while the digitalisation of official summaries has also begun to improve administrative efficiency, transparency and decision-making.

The progress was reviewed at a high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, which focused on improving public service delivery, expanding digital reforms and modernising administrative procedures across the province.

The meeting was informed that more than 183,000 e-files had been processed across 28 government departments under the existing e-filing system. As part of the next phase of digital transformation, the provincial government has also launched the digitalisation of official summaries, initially covering 10 government departments.

Chairing the meeting, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti directed all relevant departments to accelerate the transition towards modern digital systems and ensure effective coordination to achieve the government’s reform objectives.

He stressed that unnecessary delays in official business must be eliminated and timely decisions ensured to make administrative processes more efficient, transparent and results-oriented.

The chief minister said digital governance was not merely about adopting technology but also about strengthening transparency, accountability and the speed of government operations. He added that the effective use of modern technology would improve institutional performance and enable the government to deliver better and more timely services to the public.

Bugti further emphasised the need to replace outdated administrative practices with efficient digital solutions. He noted that the digitalisation of official files and summaries would help speed up decision-making, reduce procedural delays and improve the monitoring of government affairs.

The chief minister also directed government departments to strengthen coordination and cooperation to ensure that digitalisation initiatives progressed according to established targets.

Reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to administrative reforms, Bugti said the effective use of modern technology would help build a more transparent, responsive and efficient governance system aligned with public needs.

The initiative marks another step towards strengthening e-governance in Balochistan, with a focus on faster official processing, improved accountability and better public service delivery.
