QUETTA: Faculty and staff at the University of Balochistan have not received their December salaries and pensions, causing widespread concern among educators.

The Teachers’ Federation, representing academic staff across Pakistan, has demanded immediate steps to resolve the financial crisis affecting universities, especially in Balochistan.

In a recent meeting, the federation highlighted the recurring delays in salaries and pensions, which are severely impacting faculty members’ livelihoods. They urged the university administration to engage the provincial government to release funds promptly and address these ongoing issues.

The federation also called for the establishment of Provincial Higher Education Commissions to tackle funding and governance problems more effectively under the 18th Amendment.

Teachers emphasized that timely salaries are essential for maintaining morale and ensuring uninterrupted education across the province.
