In Nasirabad, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 144, naming ARY News correspondent Naseer Ahmed Mastoi for covering protests. The Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) has strongly condemned this decision in a joint statement. BUJ President Khalil Ahmed General, Secretary Ghani Kakar and other members demanded the immediate removal of Mastoi’s name from the FIR.

They argued that, instead of using Section 144 to curb violent protests, the authorities have misused it to suppress critical journalism.

The BUJ stressed that the journalist was merely performing his professional duties, and his inclusion in the FIR is entirely unacceptable.

BUJ has called on Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and the Inspector General of Police to urgently address the matter and ensure the journalist’s name is promptly expunged from the case.
