Manan Mandokhail:

QUETTA: In a tragic incident in Newsaryab, Quetta, two individuals, a 39-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man lost their lives in an act of honour killing. The woman, a widow and mother of seven, was fatally shot in her room, while the man was targeted on the rooftop of their home.

Police have confirmed that the killing was carried out by a family member, reportedly the woman’s own brother, in a misguided attempt to uphold family honour.

This senseless act, which has claimed the lives of both a man and a woman, is a reminder that honour cannot be used to justify murder.

Authorities recovered a pistol from the deceased man and have launched a full investigation into the incident.

Local officials have strongly condemned the killing, emphasizing that honour should be celebrated as respect and integrity not misused as a pretext for violence. Communities across the globe reject any notion that honour can legitimize such brutal acts, and efforts continue to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
