Qaseem Shah:

QUETTA, February 19 – In a rousing address at the inauguration of phases 2, 3, and 4 of the “Safa Quetta” project, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti declared that Quetta is everyone’s home—a responsibility that extends to maintaining its cleanliness and beauty.

The CM announced plans to extend the “Safa Quetta” initiative throughout the entire Quetta district, emphasizing that every citizen, from youths in blue uniforms braving difficult conditions to local businessmen, plays a pivotal role in transforming the city.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister praised the relentless efforts of the “Safa Quetta” team and the Metropolitan Union members for their contribution to the city’s upkeep. “When a dream turns into reality, it brings immense joy,” Bugti said, attributing much of that success to the dedicated children who serve the community despite challenging circumstances. He affirmed that the provincial government, along with all elected representatives, stands firmly behind this initiative and will provide every possible support to ensure its success, as long as it is based on merit and the rule of law.

Bugti also warned against any attempts at blackmail or undue pressure that could undermine public interest, stressing that while strikes are permitted, any action against the common good would not be tolerated. He underscored that the government of Balochistan is committed to serving the people, a mandate given by the citizens themselves, and promised that no obstacle would hinder progress.

Addressing broader developmental goals, the Chief Minister announced further projects aimed at upgrading city infrastructure, including plans to bring Airport Road up to international standards to enhance Quetta’s overall appeal. In a show of solidarity, he urged residents to join the initiative by keeping their homes and marketplaces clean, noting that true pride in Quetta is reflected in its hygiene and vibrancy.

Bugti Strongly Condemns Killing Of Passengers

In addition to the civic drive, Bugti strongly condemned recent terrorist activities in Balochistan, which he said sought to tarnish the province’s rich cultural heritage. “Terrorists are attacking our social and cultural values, but Balochistan has always been the guardian of our traditions—be it Baloch, Pashtun, Hazara, or any other local culture. We will not stand for the senseless loss of innocent lives,” he declared, vowing that the government, in close coordination with security forces, will decisively counter these threats.

Commissioner Quetta Division, Hamza Shafqat, also provided a detailed briefing on the “Safa Quetta” project’s performance, comparing it favorably with similar initiatives in other cities. The event was attended by provincial ministers, parliamentary secretaries, assembly members, and representatives from various sectors, with children welcoming the Chief Minister with bouquets of flowers—a symbol of hope and collective commitment to a brighter future for Quetta.

With the expanded “Safa Quetta” project, the government aims to not only enhance urban aesthetics but also instill a renewed sense of civic pride and responsibility among Quetta’s residents, setting a benchmark for clean and progressive urban living across Pakistan.
