Nokkundi, Chagai District, March 03, 2025: Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) has introduced a new scholarship program to support promising students from underprivileged backgrounds in Chagai. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, RDMC, in collaboration with Progressive Education Network (PEN), aims to provide quality education opportunities to students from seven RDMC-supported primary schools in the district.
The scholarship program focuses on students in Grades 6, 7, and 8, selecting those with strong academic performance and financial need. Following a thorough selection process, 15 students were chosen: 3 from Durbun Chah, 5 from Humai (including 2 girls and 3 boys), 4 from Tung Kachau, 2 from Mashki Chah, and 1 from Nok Chah School.
To ensure the best educational opportunities, PEN conducted a detailed assessment of schools in Quetta and nearby areas. Based on this evaluation, Iqra Residential School at Masoom Educational Complex was selected as the ideal institution. Known for its experienced faculty, well-structured curriculum, and modern facilities, the school provides a supportive learning environment that fosters both academic and personal growth.
Essa Tahir, RDMC’s Community Investment Lead, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “For years, many schools in this region remained non-functional, depriving children of education. RDMC has actively worked to restore these schools and create new learning opportunities. This scholarship program is a significant step in ensuring talented students can continue their studies without financial barriers.”
Based on input from Community Development Committees, RDMC plans to expand this initiative to benefit more students in Chagai.
The scholarship program reflects RDMC’s long-term commitment to bridging the educational gap and uplifting local communities. By providing access to quality education, the initiative empowers young learners with the knowledge and skills needed to build a brighter future.
