QUETTA: Security forces have rescued 155 passengers after an ambush on the Jaffar Express on Tuesday, but the hostage crisis is still ongoing, with several passengers still in militants custody.
Attack on Jaffar Express
The attack occurred when dozens of armed militants came down from the mountains and opened fire on the Quetta to Rawalpindi passenger train.
The train was forced to stop, and militants took passengers hostage, creating a terrifying ordeal for those on board.
Security Operation & Hostage Situation
Security forces have eliminated 27 terrorists so far, but some militants remain inside the area, using innocent passengers as human shields, a senior security official said.
According to security sources, suicide bombers wearing explosive vests are positioned dangerously close to hostages.
The attackers are believed to be in contact with facilitators in Afghanistan, complicating rescue efforts, the security official informed. Security forces continue their operation to neutralize the remaining militants and ensure the safety of all passengers.
The situation remains tense, and authorities are working to bring an end to the crisis without further loss of life.
