Hussain Zarkoon:
Dukki: A coal miner lost his life, and another sustained injuries after gas accumulated inside a local coal mine in Dukki, hospital sources confirmed.
The deceased miner has been identified as Muhammad Hassan, son of Paind, belonging to the Tukhhi tribe, while the injured miner has been identified as Juma Khan, son of Sher Gul.
This is not the first time hazardous working conditions in Balochistan’s coal mines have claimed innocent lives. Fatal incidents have become routine due to the absence of proper safety measures. Despite repeated appeals, the Mines Act has not been implemented, leaving miners vulnerable to deadly accidents.
Miners Criticize Government Negligence
Criticizing the government’s inaction, Balochistan Labour Federation President Lala Sultan said:
“The lives of coal miners are being sacrificed due to the criminal negligence of authorities. How many more workers must die before the government enforces safety laws?”
Similarly, Balochistan Coal Mines Workers Federation General Secretary Bakht Nawab stated:
“Every time a miner dies, officials make hollow promises, but no practical steps are taken. The Mines Act exists only on paper, and the government’s indifference is pushing workers towards their deaths.”
Miners and labor rights organizations continue to demand urgent enforcement of safety regulations to prevent further tragedies in Balochistan’s coal mines.
