Quetta: An FIR has been registered against Dr. Mahrang Baloch, leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with several other leaders and activists, in connection with the killing of three people during a protest in Quetta. The case includes multiple sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act and other legal provisions, police sources said.

So far, three cases have been filed against the BYC in Quetta. Meanwhile, protests continue across Balochistan against the arrests of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders.

Province-Wide Protests and Strikes

On Sunday, a shutter-down strike was observed for the second consecutive day in several cities, including Turbat, Mastung, Kalat, Kharan, Chagai, and Panjgur. Protesters in Turbat have been staging a sit-in for two days, while demonstrators blocked the Turbat-Karachi highway.

In Hub, near Karachi, police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse protesters who had blocked the Quetta-Karachi highway at Bhawani in response to Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s arrest. Authorities confirmed that traffic was restored on the highway.

Situation in Quetta

The two-day BYC sit-in in Quetta has ended, and normal life has resumed. Traffic on Sariab Road, which remained blocked for two days due to the protest, has now been restored.
