Quetta: The Journalists Panel secured a landslide victory in the Quetta Press Club elections for the 2025-27 term, with Irfan Saeed elected as President and Ayub Tareen as General Secretary.

The elections were held on Wednesday under the supervision of Election Committee Chairman Nadir Chhalgari Advocate, along with members Khalil-ur-Rehman Advocate and Bilal Mohsin Advocate. Polling continued from 11 AM to 5 PM, followed by the announcement of results.

Election Results:

• President: Irfan Saeed (75 votes)

• General Secretary: Ayub Tareen (79 votes)

• Senior Vice President: Muhammad Afzal Mughal (60 votes)

• Vice President: Habibullah Qalandrani (78 votes)

• Joint Secretary: Atiya Akram (63 votes)

• Finance Secretary: Abdullah Zehri (71 votes)

• Senior Joint Secretary: Bilal Awam (Unopposed)

The Governing Body Members elected include Abdul Khaliq Rind, Hammadullah Siyapad, Haji Khalid Gujar, Naseer Ahmed Kakar, Mujeebullah Achakzai, Javed Langa, Shahid Mukhtar, and Abdul Basit.

The elections saw a contest between two panels, but the Progressive Panel failed to secure any position, as the Journalists Panel swept the polls.

Post-Election Celebration

Following the elections, a grand Iftar dinner was hosted at Quetta Press Club, attended by:

• Director General Public Relations Balochistan, Muhammad Noor Khetran

• Vice Chairman Balochistan Bar Council, Rahib Baloch

• CM’s Press Secretary, Sheikh Abdul Razzaq

• Senior journalists Noor Khan Muhammad Hasni, Waheed Zaheer, and Afzal Murad, along with many others.

Speaking on the occasion, newly elected President Irfan Saeed and General Secretary Ayub Tareen expressed gratitude to the journalist community for their overwhelming support. They pledged to continue serving the press club members and enhancing the club’s role in media development.

This decisive victory reaffirms the Journalists Panel’s strong position and its commitment to press freedom in Balochistan.
