QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court has ruled that Afghan refugees holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards cannot be harassed or forcibly evicted from their homes, ensuring their legal protection and dignity.

The ruling came in response to Constitutional Petition No. 342/2025, where petitioners sought relief against forced relocations. The respondents, including the Government of Balochistan, the Federation of Pakistan, and law enforcement agencies, were directed to comply with an official notification issued on July 22, 2024, which safeguards PoR card holders.

During the hearing, Additional Advocate General (AAG) assured the court that authorities were strictly following the notification and had not taken unlawful actions against PoR card holders.

Following this assurance, Acting Chief Justice Muhammad Ejaz Swati and Justice Muhammad Aamir Nawaz Rana disposed of the petition, reinforcing the legal status and protections granted to Afghan refugees under PoR regulations.

The decision has been widely welcomed, offering relief to thousands of Afghan refugees in Balochistan facing uncertainty over their residency status.
