Hussain Zarkoon:

A tragic accident at a coal mine in Duki, Balochistan, claimed the life of an Afghan coal miner after a moving trolley fatally struck him during mining operations.

According to hospital sources, the victim has been identified as Allah Muhammad, son of Nazar Muhammad, a resident of Afghanistan. The fatal trolley accident occurred inside a local coal mine in Duki, a district known for its hazardous mining conditions and large population of migrant workers.

Authorities transported the miner’s body to a nearby hospital where necessary legal and medical formalities were completed. After the official procedures, the body was handed over to the victim’s family and repatriated to Afghanistan for burial.

This incident underscores the persistent dangers faced by workers in coal mining operations across Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan’s mining sector, which often relies heavily on laborers from Afghanistan and other neighboring regions.

Labor rights groups have frequently raised concerns about mine safety standards in Pakistan, calling for stricter enforcement of safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
