QUETTA, April 7: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed that while the right to peaceful protest is protected under the Constitution, the permission to assemble in public spaces remains a governmental authority that must be respected by all political groups.

Speaking during a meeting with senior political leaders Nawabzada Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri and Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai, CM Bugti emphasized the need to uphold the law while engaging in political activism. The leaders met at the Chief Minister Secretariat to discuss the ongoing protest by the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) and the province’s broader political climate.

Bugti informed the delegation that his administration had held three rounds of talks with Sardar Akhtar Mengal, the BNP leader, in a bid to find a political solution to the ongoing sit-in. “Out of the three key demands put forth, one has already been accepted,” he stated. However, the lack of constructive response from the BNP leadership has resulted in a stalemate.

The leaders agreed that sustainable peace in Balochistan can only be achieved through inclusive dialogue and continued political engagement. They pledged to keep communication channels open in the interest of stability and cooperation.
