ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has announced that 27 students from Balochistan are currently undergoing specialized training in mineral exploration in Zambia and Argentina.
This initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce, including engineers, geologists, and operators, essential for harnessing Pakistan’s extensive mineral resources.
General Munir emphasized the importance of international collaboration in advancing Pakistan’s mining sector. He invited global institutions to share their expertise, explore investment opportunities, and partner in the development of the country’s vast mineral wealth.
Highlighting the evolving concept of economic security as a vital component of national security, General Munir assured both local and foreign investors of a robust security framework. He stated that the Pakistan Army is committed to implementing proactive measures to safeguard the interests and confidence of its partners and investors.
The COAS also advocated for the development of both upstream and downstream mineral industries within Pakistan. He stressed the importance of domestic investment in refining and value addition to optimize costs and diversify markets. “With vast mineral reserves beneath our feet, skilled hands, and a transparent mineral policy, there is no room for despondency or inaction,” he asserted.
Acknowledging the contributions of Baloch tribal elders, General Munir praised their efforts in promoting mining activities and advancing the development of Balochistan. He concluded by emphasizing the collective benefits of collaboration, stating that joint efforts in the mineral sector could drive regional development, prosperity, and sustainability.
