Professor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), proudly represented Balochistan at the national platform URAAN – Pakistan Growth through Digital Transformation, held in Islamabad from April 15 to 17.

Prof. Hafeez was the only academic from Balochistan invited to speak on the high-level panel “Digital Transformation, AI, Productivity, and the Future of Work: A Conversation for Pakistan”, chaired by Nobel Laureate Professor Michael Spence from Milan University, Italy. The discussion focused on how Pakistan can harness the power of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to drive economic growth and job creation.

In another significant session, Prof. Hafeez participated as a panellist in “Reimagining Universities in Pakistan in the Digital and AI Age,” alongside Vice Chancellors of PIDE and GIK, as well as two prominent venture capitalists. The session explored the evolving role of higher education in preparing students for a rapidly changing digital landscape.

The three-day conference, hosted by the Pakistan Society of Development Economists and PIDE, brought together top scholars, policymakers, and innovators to shape Pakistan’s digital future. Prof. Hafeez’s participation highlighted BUITEMS’ commitment to digital innovation and its growing role in national conversations on education and technology.
