Shakoor Khan: Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe, has arrived in Islamabad for a two-day official visit. The visit comes at the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar.
This is Ambassador Nduhungirehe’s first official trip to Pakistan and marks a significant milestone in the growing diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
Upon arrival, the Rwandan Foreign Minister received a warm welcome from senior officials of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Director General for Africa. Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, the Defense Attaché, and other dignitaries were also present to greet him.
During his stay, Ambassador Nduhungirehe is expected to meet with top Pakistani leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and key business leaders.
A highlight of the visit will be the formal inauguration of Rwanda’s High Commission in Islamabad — a major step in strengthening diplomatic ties. This visit follows the recent establishment of embassies in both Kigali and Islamabad, signaling a new chapter in Rwanda-Pakistan relations.
According to diplomatic sources, the visit aims to deepen bilateral cooperation across sectors such as trade, investment, and defense. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, paving the way for enhanced collaboration between the two nations.
