QUETTA: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court, comprising Acting Chief Justice Justice Muhammad Ejaz Swati and Justice Muhammad Amir Nawaz Rana, declared a constitutional petition admissible regarding the disconnection of agricultural tube well connections without prior notice.

The court issued notices to the federal and provincial governments, the Irrigation Department, Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), and the Energy Department, directing them to submit detailed reports at the next hearing.

The constitutional petition was filed by Mir Attaullah Langau, President of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association. During the hearing, Langau raised serious concerns over the disconnection of agricultural electricity connections, especially in the Kalat region, without informing the farmers. He argued that the action was causing significant harm to crops and orchards, and could severely affect the livelihoods and economy of the province’s farmers.

After hearing the arguments, the court recognized the petition as maintainable and sought detailed responses from the relevant departments. The next hearing is scheduled for April 24, 2025.

Following the court proceedings, Mir Attaullah Langau stated that the Balochistan High Court Bar Association stands firmly with the farmers and landowners of the province and will take all legal measures necessary to protect their rights.
