QUETTA: At least nine terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during a targeted intelligence-based operation in the Khanoi Baba area of Pishin district, Balochistan.

According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched following credible intelligence about the presence of militants involved in subversive activities in the region. During the raid, a fierce gunbattle erupted, resulting in the deaths of nine alleged terrorists.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, commended the CTD and law enforcement personnel for their swift and effective action. He praised the forces for their dedication to protecting the lives and property of citizens, stressing that such efforts were essential for maintaining peace in the province.

“Our brave security forces are playing a vital role in securing Balochistan,” said Chief Minister Bugti. “Those who try to spread fear and disrupt peace will not be spared. We are fully committed to eliminating such threats and ensuring a safer future for our people.”

The CTD recovered a cache of weapons and explosives from the site, including automatic firearms, grenades, and ammunition. Officials stated that the slain individuals were linked to various incidents of terrorism and had been on the radar of law enforcement agencies for their involvement in attacks aimed at destabilizing the province.

The spokesperson emphasized that the operation marks a significant success in the ongoing fight against terrorism and a step toward ensuring peace in Balochistan. Security has been tightened in the surrounding areas following the encounter, and further investigations are underway.
