Flames of fire and thick black smoke rising from the oil tanker after the blast: Photo grabbed from a video on social media

Haji Tayyab Yalanzai, Riaz Baloch:

Over 40 people were injured after a truck’s fuel tank exploded in Nushki district, Balochistan, on Monday. According to officials, nine of the injured are in critical condition and have been referred to Quetta, the provincial capital, for emergency medical treatment. Due to a shortage of ambulances, some of the injured had to be transported to Quetta in private vehicles.

Among those injured are DSP Nushki Sharif Bareach and several members of the fire brigade team, who sustained burns while battling the blaze. Tragically, the fire also engulfed a firefighting vehicle during the operation.

Following the explosion, an emergency was declared at the trauma center of the Civil Hospital Nushki to manage the influx of patients.

Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that a thorough investigation would be conducted. He assured that the provincial government would provide the best possible medical care to all those injured in the blast.

This is a developing story. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available from our correspondent on the ground.
