Islamabad: In a significant development, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has announced an increase in the medical college quota for students from FATA and Balochistan. Under this initiative, 333 students have already been granted admissions, with plans to further expand the number of seats in the coming academic year.
Speaking at a press conference, Mustafa Kamal stated that the Ministry of Health and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) have successfully resolved longstanding issues faced by students from the merged tribal districts and underdeveloped regions.
He emphasized that students from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will now have better opportunities to enter medical education on a merit basis. The federal minister also highlighted ongoing educational reforms, noting that private medical and dental colleges will now be more accountable under PMDC regulations, ensuring transparency and equal access.
It is worth mentioning that PMDC issued a notification in March 2025 outlining new admission policies and regulatory frameworks for all medical and dental colleges across Pakistan. These measures aim to ensure fair admissions and greater support for students from remote and disadvantaged areas.
