According to initial reports, the explosion occurred near Jabbar Market, causing multiple shops to collapse. Eyewitnesses said several of the damaged shops also caught fire shortly after the blast, triggering chaos and fear among the locals. Emergency responders and residents rushed to pull victims from the debris as flames engulfed nearby stalls.
Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan confirmed that four fatalities had been reported while the injured were transported to local healthcare centers. Due to the lack of adequate medical facilities in the area, many of the seriously wounded were shifted to Quetta for further treatment.
Authorities revealed that the market is located close to the rear wall of a Frontier Corps (FC) installation. Shortly after the explosion, a brief gunfire exchange took place between unidentified armed men and FC personnel, raising suspicions of a coordinated attack. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
Among the injured were pedestrians and the personal guard of tribal elder Haji Faizullah Khan Ghabizai. The tribal leader was present in his office at the time of the blast but remained unharmed.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search and clearance operation to ensure public safety and trace those responsible.
This tragic incident has once again underscored the vulnerability of public places in conflict-prone regions. Citizens and community leaders are calling for urgent improvements in local healthcare infrastructure and enhanced security measures to protect lives and livelihoods in Balochistan’s border districts.
