QUETTA, May 21 – Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, addressing an emergency press conference late Monday, strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Khuzdar that claimed the lives of five innocent schoolchildren. The chief minister vowed that the perpetrators behind this “cowardly and barbaric” act would be brought to justice without exception.
Flanked by provincial ministers and members of the Balochistan Assembly, CM Bugti declared that it was an act of terrorism, adding that security agencies had prior intelligence about an imminent proxy attack orchestrated by Pakistan’s enemies. “We did not expect such a heinous strike targeting schoolchildren,” he said. “This brutal act reflects the true face of our enemies.”

The chief minister directly accused India of being behind the attack, stating that Indian-sponsored proxies were attempting to destabilize the region by targeting soft and civilian targets in Balochistan. He further claimed that Afghan soil was also being used to launch terrorist activities inside Pakistan.
“We have repeatedly conveyed our concerns to the interim Afghan government. Under the Doha agreement, they are obligated not to allow the use of their territory against Pakistan,” he noted, urging the Afghan authorities to act in good faith.
CM Bugti extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and described the bombing as one of the most tragic incidents in recent months. “These were innocent children on their way to school when terrorists struck. The nation shares in the pain of the grieving families.”
Security has been tightened across Khuzdar and surrounding areas following the suicide bombing. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
