The Federal Government of Pakistan has appointed senior bureaucrat Noor ul Haq Baloch as the new Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority (GPA)—a strategic decision aimed at strengthening Gwadar Port’s role in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and boosting Pakistan’s maritime economy.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division on June 16, 2025, Noor ul Haq Baloch will assume the position on deputation under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, following formal approval from the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Noor ul Haq Baloch has previously held critical roles including Chairman of the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA), Secretary Finance, and Secretary Health Balochistan. He is widely recognized for his expertise in public administration, fiscal governance, and economic reform.

His appointment is expected to bring renewed momentum to Gwadar Port development, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and improve port logistics under Pakistan’s broader Blue Economy and CPEC strategic vision.

The move highlights Gwadar’s growing significance as a regional logistics hub, with global investors closely watching Pakistan’s steps in developing this deep-sea port.
