Quetta – June 22, 2025: Amid rising regional tensions, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti presided over a high-level meeting to assess the situation in districts bordering Iran. The session focused on the supply of essential goods, the safe return of pilgrims and students, and contingency plans for any emergency.

Senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, briefed the meeting on current developments. Commissioners from Makran, Rakhshan, and other border districts participated via video link, highlighting local conditions and preparedness.
Food Security Under Control, Alternative Fuel Strategy Finalized
Officials assured the meeting that no immediate food shortages have been reported in the Iran-bordering districts. To address potential energy disruptions, a comprehensive strategy has been devised to obtain electricity and LPG from alternative sources.
The Balochistan government has also decided to enhance coordination with the federal authorities to improve electricity and LPG supply in the affected areas.
“We must ensure that no food shortage affects the local population in the border areas,” Chief Minister Bugti emphasized during the session.
“Arrangements for fuel supply, including petrol, are being pursued in coordination with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum.”
CM Directs Contingency Plans, Continued Monitoring
The Chief Minister instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to keep a contingency plan ready in case of any unforeseen situation. He also directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to maintain strict vigilance and regularly update the provincial command center.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti also expressed satisfaction over the safe and organized return of Pakistani pilgrims and students from Iran, calling it a “positive outcome during uncertain times.”
