Quetta : An important review meeting of the Department of Communication and Works was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in which a detailed briefing was given on the ongoing road construction and development projects across the province. It was informed during the meeting that key projects, including the Hanna Road and Sibi to Tharri-Kohlu Road, will be completed within this year.
During the briefing, it was revealed that Rs. 27 billion have been allocated in the current fiscal year for the construction of 27 major highways. On this occasion, the Secretary of Communications stated that due to substandard work and delays in project execution, 56 construction firms have been blacklisted.
The Chief Minister directed that all development projects must be completed on time and with high quality standards, and emphasized that the culture of advance payments and financial revisions must be ended. He sternly warned, “If any officer authorizes advance payments, strict action will be taken.” He further added that such officers should be prepared for suspension or dismissal.
The Chief Minister clarified that timely provision of resources is the government’s responsibility, while timely completion of projects is the responsibility of the relevant departments. Expressing his displeasure over delays in the Zamri Road project, the Chief Minister ordered that “if construction work is not started within 20 days, strict action will be taken against those responsible.”
These measures are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure in Balochistan, ensuring that the development process remains transparent, high-quality, and results-driven.
