Quetta  — The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan Zone has launched decisive operations against hawala hundi and illegal currency exchange networks, arresting 16 suspects. These raids were conducted in various districts of Balochistan, resulting in the seizure of large amounts of both local and foreign currency.

Details of the Arrested Individuals

Among those arrested during the operations are Muhammad Ramza, Ahmed, Abdul Kareem, Khair Muhammad, Abdul Ahad, Rehmatullah, Abdul Baqi, Alauddin, Abdul Malik, Abdul Samad, Syed Gul, Mehdi, Saeed Khan, Haji Nazir, Haji Abdul Waheed, and Asadullah. The suspects are residents of different areas of Balochistan and were allegedly linked to hawala hundi and illegal money exchange networks.

Seized Currency Details

According to FIA officials, a total of PKR 3.961 million was recovered during the raids. In addition, a significant amount of foreign currency was also seized, including:

6,047.9 million Iranian Rials

1.556 million Iraqi Dinars

8,800 Afghan Afghanis

1,000 South Korean Won

400 Turkish Lira

144 US Dollars

 

Other Crucial Evidence Recovered

Mobile phones and other key documentary evidence related to hawala hundi operations were also recovered from the suspects, confirming their involvement in illegal financial activities.

Investigation Underway, Legal Proceedings Initiated

FIA officials stated that the suspects failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the seized currency, prompting the initiation of legal proceedings against them. Further investigations are ongoing, and more revelations are expected.
