Health Desk:
Quetta – Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar came down hard on what he referred to as “mafias” within the health sector during a strongly worded press conference aimed at exposing resistance to the government’s reform initiatives.
Without naming any specific organization, the minister revealed that certain elements are resisting the installation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras designed to ensure staff attendance and transparency in hospitals. “For the last three months, we’ve been asking them to appear on camera. Their refusal means something is fishy. They are deceiving the public,” Kakar said.
He added that the courts themselves had identified these groups as mafias, yet they continue to obstruct efforts aimed at reviving critical hospital functions. “We have revived ICUs, operationalized operation theatres, and ensured consistent medicine supply. Still, they use vulgar language and try to defame us — but we are not afraid.”
The minister emphasized that the real priority is the patient, and nothing will derail the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services across Balochistan. “Let them shout; we will continue our journey.”
Present during the press conference were Shahid Rind , spokesperson for the Government of Balochistan, Mujeeb ur Rehman Panizai, Secretary of Health Balochistan, and other officials.
