Funeral of Major Adnan Aslam Shaheed Held in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Funeral prayers of Major Adnan Aslam Shaheed, 31, were offered at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi, on Monday. The officer embraced martyrdom at the Combined Military Hospital while undergoing treatment after sustaining injuries during an operation against militants in Bannu on September 2.

The solemn ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Defence Minister, the Information Minister, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir NI (M), HJ (COAS), senior civil and military officers, and relatives of the martyred officer.

Major Adnan Aslam, a resident of Rawalpindi, fought with exemplary courage, leading his men from the front against what officials described as an “Indian proxy group, Fitna al Khawarij,” during their attack in Bannu.

Paying tribute, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said:
“Today, Pakistan has lost a valiant son of the soil. Major Adnan’s courage and sacrifice will forever remain etched in the nation’s heart. He represents the best of Pakistan — unwavering resolve, love for the homeland, and an unbreakable spirit of sacrifice.”

The ISPR stated that Major Adnan’s martyrdom reaffirms the commitment of the Pakistan Armed Forces to eradicate terrorism in all its forms.

The officer will be laid to rest in his hometown with full military honours.
