Quetta, September 18, 2025 – Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has vowed that the repatriation of Afghan refugees from the province will be carried out in a transparent, organized, and dignified manner, ensuring that no individual’s self-respect is undermined.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Quetta on Thursday, the Chief Minister directed authorities to give special consideration to women, children, and elderly refugees, and warned that any incident of mistreatment would result in immediate and strict action against the responsible officials.
The meeting reviewed the overall progress of the repatriation process, as well as the law and order situation in Qila Abdullah district. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Inspector General of Police Muhammad Tahir, DG Levies Abdul Ghaffar Magsi, Commissioner Quetta Division Shah Zeb Kakar, and Commissioner Afghan Refugees Balochistan Arbab Talib-ul-Mola attended the session, while officials from Zhob and Qila Abdullah joined via video link.
Officials briefed the meeting that the repatriation process is being implemented under the federal government’s policy in coordination with the UNHCR. CM Bugti instructed that female security personnel be temporarily recruited to facilitate women during the repatriation process, stressing that humanitarian values must remain the top priority.
On the security front, the Chief Minister directed authorities to launch indiscriminate operations against anti-social and criminal elements in Qila Abdullah, regardless of jurisdiction. He emphasized that the provincial government will provide all necessary resources to restore peace and ordered divisional and district officers to take swift action and submit daily reports to the CM Secretariat.
