Quetta: The Balochistan High Court on Tuesday struck down the travel restrictions imposed on Balochistan National Party (BNP) President Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, declaring the government’s move unlawful and ordering the removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

The ruling came after detailed arguments presented by senior lawyer and BNP leader Sajid Tareen Advocate. The court directed the federal authorities to immediately withdraw the travel ban placed on the veteran politician.

The hearing was conducted by a two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Rozi Khan Bareech and Justice Sardar Ahmed Halimi. During the proceedings, BNP’s central information secretary Agha Hassan Baloch, Advocate Rahib Buleidi, and other party representatives were also present in court.

Speaking to the media after the verdict, Sajid Tareen Advocate, who also serves as BNP’s Senior Vice President and a former president of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, said that Akhtar Mengal was being targeted purely for his political stance.

“We faced similar tactics during General Musharraf’s martial law,” he remarked. “Whether inside the courts or outside, we will continue to raise our voice against injustice.”

He further added that today’s judgment reinforced the BNP’s belief that fabricated cases and coercive measures cannot intimidate the party’s leadership. “Our struggle for the rights of the people of Balochistan will continue without compromise,” he said.
